build team replace option

I know what happens when you remove a resource from your plan. Their actuals
go away too. What happens when you do a replace, the same? I'm trying to
clean up a little mess. We have 2 folks that have been entering time, under 2
different names that were set up in error.

Hello Kerry,

This sounds like all you need to do is a resource replace. The "Original"
resource keeps their actual hours and the "Replace" resource is added with
the remaining hours. If the "Orginal" resource work is completed, then
nothing happens. The original resource names stays the same. If the
"Orignal" resource, has not actuals, then the name is replaced.

I hope that makes sense.

Cheers!

Hi Kerry,

Your scenario is resource A reported actual hours on Task 1. You want to
replace resource A with resource B on Task 1

If you want to retain the actual hours reported by resource A and simply
transfer all the remaining planned work to resource B, then use the
following steps:
1) Use the "Assign Resources" pop up window found under "Tools>Assign
Resources..."
2) Highlight Task 1 in the Gantt
3) Highlight resource A in the "Assign Resource" pop up window and click
replace
4) Select Resource B and click OK.
NOTE: This assumes resource B isn't already assigned to Task 1.

If you want to re-assign the whole task assignment including the actual
hours already reported you need to follow these steps.
1) In the Resource Sheet view take a note of resource B's resource ID
2) Switch to the Gantt view
3) Click on Windows>Split
4) Highlight Task 1 in the Gantt view
5) Locate resource A in the Task Form pane at the bottom
6) Highlight the ID field next to resource A in the Task Form pane
7) Change the ID number to that of resource B found in step 1 and then click
OK

Hope this helps,

Jonathan Sofer

NOTE: This assumes resource B isn't already assigned to Task 1.
