Building a new Webserver

Any good articles I can refer to for th ebuilding and deploying a new
webserver. One of the challenges I have now is we edit the live site. I need
to have files available for everyone to work on, then published to the live
site. One thing we always have a problem with, is forms stop working when we
do this. How can we advoid this process?
