Building index sub-entry

Building an index for a book I am having a problem of
crating a sub-entry. I need to be able to have one main
index line with sub lines below it for example as the help
file says create (subentry: An index entry that falls
under a more general heading. For example, the index
entry "planets" could have the subentries "Mars"
and "Venus.") and or by create a cross-reference to
another entry

Can you help me nid out how to do this or see an example.

Thanks

If you're using the Insert > Index > Mark Entry dialog, just type the
main entry in the first box and the subentry in the second box. When
you click the Mark button, it will insert a field in the document that
looks like this:

{ XE main entry:subentry }

The colon is the signal to Word that what follows is a subentry. You
can enter similar fields manually instead of with the dialog, using
Ctrl+F9 to insert the field braces and then typing the field code. To
do this you must show nonprinting characters by clicking the ¶ button,
because XE fields are automatically marked as Hidden text.
