Hi everyone,
I am running into an issue when I try to build the OLAP cube via Project Web
Access; I will try to explain this as accurately as I can, so please bear
with me…
First, let me show you the error message that we are receiving:
The cube scheduled to be built on 9/20/2006 at 11:15 AM failed.
(-2147467259) [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not
exist or access denied.
Now, at first glance I thought “ok, simple enough check for permissions…â€
all components, meaning Views and sessions, Analysis Services and MSProject
are connecting to the SQL Server and each passes their connectivity test (I
also successfully established telnet sessions from the different boxes
against SQL). Furthermore, this issue only surfaces when I try to build the
cube using a date range larger than a month for any given year; however,
running a single month (any month, for any year) runs perfectly fine and the
data has been tested to be accurate.
So moving from my initial thoughts to say now that maybe there is a timeout
issue, I went ahead and looked upon the following KB Articles: 912259 (didn’t
work), 837653 (didn’t work), 328306 (client –related causes, registry
settings and Network Utility did not work either), and 888228 (hard-coded
TCP\IP address, no dice). I also went through the installation manual and
could not find anything to be out of place.
The configuration we have is: Views and Sessions are separate from the
Project Server, Analysis Services lives on the same server as MSProject and
SQL has its own box.
Now, mentioned KB articles and the installation manual; feel free to comment
since I might have missed something; for one, this is my first time
administering MSProject, so could have very easily missed something.
Thanks everyone, and I look forward to your comments and suggestions!
