Building Plan-Office Layout-US, Shapes change position when Groupe

I have used Visio 2003 for years. I will draw the shell of the space I am
creating, walls, doors, windows... Then Group them before drawing in cubes
and other furniture and group that separately. Occasionally, after drawing
the shell and selecting all, and then group, some items will change position.
Some items like Doors will end up in the middle of the drawing or off the
page. Does anyone know why this could be happening?

Haven't experienced that problem, but you might be able to avoid it by doing
either of the following. Draw your shell on a background page. Then draw
your cubicles on a page that uses the background page. No grouping needed.
If you want to keep the cubicles separate, you might try putting each
"cubicle" on a separate layer.

Multi-level grouping is not encouraged in Visio because each nested level
has to be re-evaluated. I usually discourage my users from grouping cubicle
elements, and the like, because they can easily ungroup too far and thus
remove all of the custom properties.
Some of the shell shapes, such as windows and doors, are linked to add-ins
that reposition them within the length of a wall. I suggest that your habit
of grouping walls is confusing the addin.
