Built text

I have a Publisher document that I have to impose.
In order to impose, I have to create a PDF file. When I create the PDF file,
all the black text is built, even though in Publisher it is set to 100% black.
When I preint separations to a color printer, the black comes out fine. But
when I print a composite to PDF the text is built.

Any ideas??
I can't use a separated PDF - I have to have it composite and my RIP doesn't
have an option for me to change the color make up of the file.

Any help would be appreciated.

A couple options.

Try CMYK composite instead of RGB.

If that doesn't work, you may be forced to edit the PDF with PitStop Pro (
an essential tool for the manipulation of PDF).

I'm surprised your rip doesn't have a setting to output composite black
a plain K. My Harlequin does, and I've not updated it for far too long.
