Bullet Formatting with Picture Trouble

I am having the exact same problem as was previously posted. I have recently updated to Office 2008 on my Mac Leopard. When I try to customize my bullet points from the pre loaded picture catalog such as the red swirl, stained glass ball, pebble, etc. I get a message reading "This application cannot open the file. This file is an unsupported graphic format or may be damaged. Try opening the graphic in another application". These were pre loaded images and are set in .gif format. I have tried opening the images in other applications and they open in preview, but not in other office programs. How do I fix the problem so I can use these images as bullet points?

Thanks, Dayla. I tried that workaround with no success. However, what did work was creating the picture bullet in the 2004 version, opening the document in 2008, and then copying and pasting it into a 2008 document. So typically problematic of Microsoft Office products!

Huh. As I said, it works here with no problem. Can someone else on
Leopard test?

Exactly what version of Word are you using? 12.0, 12.1, 12.1.1?

I'm using Word 12.1.1 on OS 10.5.3. If anyone has a resolution to this picture bullet issue, I'd certainly appreciate your input.

Well Here's a paradox for you -

I was in the midst of composing a reply stating how I had been able to
insert any of the picture bullets with no problem [Word 12.1.1, OS X
10.5.3], having actually attempted each & every one. For some reason I
decided to play around with it a bit more so I interrupted composing the
message & returned to Word, whereupon I started receiving the "unsupported
graphic format" message - regardless of which one I tried to use.

I have no idea what triggered the change as I had done nothing but switch to
E'rage & back to Word - it was even the same file that I had been working
with successfully & had left open. I tried re-launching Word, using a new
document, repairing permissions & even restarted my MBP. All to no avail.

I thought this had been addressed in 12.1.0, but apparently not. In any case
I hope the OP will log it through Send Feedback. I also intend to report it.
