Bullet list indent

I make frequent use of bullet lists but there is one thing that I find
annoying. The indent of the bullet items is set so that the text of the
bullet list items is left justified with the non-bulleted text. This doesn't
look very good and isn't consistent with other applications.

I can manually indent the bullet list and then reset the bullet list level
number but this is a pain to do by hand for every bullet list I make. Can
this be set somewhere as a default?

There aren't defaults you can set. But, you can set up a template page that
has a "dummy" outline with your preferred format saved at the top of the
page. This would make it fairly simple to retrieve the outline/bullet format
you like.
