Bullets and dashes

Steve

I have a recurring formatting problem that I hope someone knows a
solution for. In certain documents, when I change the format of a
single heading, bullet, or dash (for example, moving it flush left),
the formatting also changes for other headings, bullets, or dashes in
the document, even if these are not at the same level as the original.

The only way I have gotten around this is to make the change to the
item I would like revised and then hit the "undo" key (quite time
consuming, of course).

This seems to happen most often when I am working with text copied
from another document.

Does anyone know how to resolve this? Thanks in advance.

Format-Style, Modify, and remove the "automatically update" checkmark.
