I run MS Word 2003 SP2. mOn a number of occasionsm whether I work in a normal
document or a table aqnd I have a bulleted or numbered list, when I hit enter
for the next line, there is no bullet/number. As soon as I start typing, the
bullet/number appears so it is not insurmountable. However, I am now editing
a document drawn up by someone else using tables. They used just straight
text to simulate numbering. I went in and selected 'numbering'. When editing,
I removed the typed numbers, hit enter at the end of each point and no
problem. That is, until I came to number 5 (the last one in this particular
series). The numbering icon in the toolbar is 'selected' for that line but
the 5 does not appear. When I put my cursor on where the number should be, it
selects numbers 1 to 4 and a space where the number should be. I have tried
to select the text and 'continue numbering'. I have deleted all to add on to
the end of number 4 then hit enter which should then give me a number 5 but
no success.
I regularly run Windows update - both for XP and Office.
