Bullets and Numbering

For some reason or another, without making any known changes, my bullets
aren't configured how they once were. I select bullets and press enter to
make the next bulleted line. Before today, i would simply press the TAB key
and the bullet would follow the text input line, but that has stopped. Now
when i press the tab key on the new bullet, the text input character goes
over for a tab, but the new bullet does not follow. What caused this, and
how can i fix it so the bullet follows the text input.

Select Tools > AutoCorrect Options > "AutoFormat As You Type" tab and turn on
the setting "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces".

In case of Word 2007, you will find the AutoCorrect dialog box here:
Office button > Word Options > Proofing – click the "AutoCorrect Options"
button.
