Bullets Disappear After Saving/Reopening

I am working with Word 2007 on Windows Vista Ultimate. I have run across
this issue multiple times in multiple documents. I have my documents set up
with styles, including bulleted lists (and styles for bullet levels 1, 2, and
3).

I keep running into an issue where the document will be fine for any length
of time. But then, randomly, when I open it, all of the bulleted styles are
messed up. To be more specific, the styles are still applied correctly, but
it has removed the actual bullet (the "dot") itself from the style.

This recently happened to me with a document I was working on last night. I
uploaded it to our sharepoint folder and this morning when I opened it, all
of the bullets are gone. I can modify the style and add the bullet back in,
but I can't have that with these documents. I am retemplating about 80
documents and they need to preserve their formatting as they are handed off
to our editors and, eventually, our client.

If it only happens with documents in SharePoint folders, I'd suspect that
SharePoint is causing the issue.

On the other hand, if it happens also with other documents, make sure that
the "Automatically update document styles" option in the Templates and
Add-Ins dialog box is cleared for the affected documents; then the
formatting of the styles should remain intact.
