Bullets in PowerPoint

I sent my PowerPoint presentation to a friend for comments and when it was
returned the bullets had changed to strange characters. I can't find a way
to change back to default bullets. Even if I start a new presentation the
bullets remain things like four leaf clovers, etc. Can someone tell me how
to get back the default bullets. Reset is greyed out. Thank you.

Thank you for responding and I did what you suggested - the only font with a
? beside it was Wingdings. I took a chance and replaced it with Arial
(probably wrong thing to do) and it changed nothing, the bullets are still
all strange. Do you have any other suggestions?
