Bullets keep disappearing..

Warren

There is a document that a user created with bullet points
that is shared between a few people. When the user
received the document back the bullet points dont show up
nor do they print out. Its a large doc so she needs to
keep re-inserting them again. WIndows 2000 pro and Office
2000 and XP are being used. I searched the knowledge base
and internet and have found no solutions.
Any suggestions?? Thanks......

Hi Warren

Use a style for the bullet point paragraphs (the built-in style List Bullet
would be a good starting point), and avoid using the button on the toolbar,
which doesn't produce stable bullets even within a single version of Word.

You can customize the user's toolbar to put the style in place of the
standard bulleting button (but note that it won't toggle - to remove bullets
change the style).

Thanks so much for replying Margaret
I went to create a new style and I selected bullet point number 2. But when she now wants to insert a bullet, you said not to use the icon on the toolbar, what does she do then? Sorry, Im trying to learn about formatting and styling.
Thanks again

Hi Warren

Once you have created or modified a bulleted style in the document, she
could just apply it using the style dropdown.

But you will be even more popular if you customize her toolbar:

Tools > Customize

On the 'Commands' tab, select 'Styles' in the left dropdown, and your new
style in the right. Drag onto the toolbar. The default button will show the
style name, but you can change that to an icon if you want.

For more about styles, have a look at Shauna Kelly's site:
