Bullets not appearing

Ray

I have Word 2002.

Bullets in Word documents that I receive from other
people, do not display.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Hi Ray,

Add picture bullets or symbols to lists

Picture bullets (bullet: A dot or other symbol that is placed before text,
such as items in a list, to add emphasis.) are often used in documents
created for the Web.

Select the items for which you want to add picture bullets or symbols.
On the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering, and then click the
Bulleted tab.
Click any style, and then click Customize.
Decide whether to use a picture or symbol for bullets.
Click Character to add a symbol.
Click Picture to add a picture.
Note If you want to use a picture that is not in the list, click Import
and browse to the picture you want to use.

Click the picture or symbol you want to use, and then click OK twice.

TIP:You can create a custom bulleted list automatically as you type. First,
specify a custom bullet in the Bullets and Numbering dialog box. Type the
text for the first item in the list, and then press ENTER. Microsoft Word
automatically inserts another custom bullet. To finish the list, press
ENTER twice, or press BACKSPACE to delete the last bullet in the list.

Please let me know has this helped You...
Thank you...

Hi Ray

Does this apply to all documents you receive from all people? Or just some
documents, or from some people?

If it's just some documents or from some people, then open one of the
problem documents. Do Tools > Templates and Add-ins. Is the "Automatically
Update Document Styles" box ticked? If that box is ticked, then every time
you open the document, its styles will be updated from its template. That
can cause havoc with bullets and numbering. So you may need to ask the
person who sent you the documents to open the document, un-tick that box,
make a minor change (eg press spacebar then backspace), and then save the
document and re-send it to you. The following article might help see what's
going on:

What happens when I send my document to someone else? Will Word mess up my
formatting?

Another possibility is that the font used for bullets is not available on
your machine. Can you find out what font was used for the original bullets?
Do you have that font on your system?

Hope this helps.
