Bullets & Numbeing

Help! (using XP-SP2, Office2000-SP3: fresh installs)
Each time when clicking on Bullets or Numbering buttons, Word closes and
generates message, "Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Send or Don't send...

I"ve been searching, no luck yet. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks much for your valuable suggestion.
Eventually checked with a co-worker. He was able to supply a copy of
WINWORD.EXE. I replaced that.....works!
