Bullets & Numbering Woes

We have to use Word XP in a class I'm taking in the Air
Force. I use the bullets and numbering to keep the notes
organized and in outline format.

Yesterday the TAB button stopped working to advance the
bullet from a bullet to a sub-bullet. Instead, when I
press TAB the bullet character remains justified to the
left and only the words tab over as if there were no
bullet at all.

After a 1.5 hr wait with Dell and 3 different support
divisions, I was told the computer is no longer
supported. I tried reinstalling Office XP...no luck.

Appreciate any suggestions.
