bullets

Hi!

I seem to be having a problem with my Word program's
bullets and numbering system. I can't get it to do sub-
bullets. The tab function just isn't working. Normally,
in order to get a sub-bullet, you hit the enter key at
the end of your first bullet line, then hit tab to get it
to shift over into a sub-bullet. Well, when I do that,
it doesn't turn into a sub-bullet, the curser just moves
over on the page, leaving the bullet in the original
position and formatted like the first bullet line.

I know a lot about Microsoft Word and formatting with it,
so I am beginning to think that my program is corrupted,
as I have tried everything I can think of to get it to
work.

Any ideas, anyone?

1. In Word 2000 or earlier, check the box for "Tabs and backspace set left
indent" on the Edit tab of Tools | Options.

2. In Word 2002 or 2003, check the box for "Set left- and first-indent with
tabs and backspaces" on the AutoFormat As You Type tab of Tools |
AutoCorrection Options.

Thank you thank you thank you! I was going out of my
mind. It's always one little obscure check box...
