Business Card Layout Question....

I have a few different types of blank business card templates/layouts that I
have either found on the web or that people have sent to me. I have a blank
8-up and a 10-up.

My question is how do I get my already created business card publication
onto these blank 8-up or 10-up layouts in Publisher so I can have a .pub file
with 8 or 10 cards layed out per file.

I feel I am ok with converting to PDF once I can do the above. This seems
to be the way most of the print shops prefer to have you bring in your card
for printing. They will do this part for you if you don't, but they will
charge you for it. I need to learn this anyway and would like to save a
little money as well.

Thanks,

Yes you are right about this. And I am aware of being able to print multiple
copies per page by setting the printer settings.

But I am refering to actually creating a document within Pulblisher that is
divided up into 8 or 10 (2 x 3.5) business card sized slots on one full page
doc and then being able to fill them up with your already created card. And
many times they have the crop and bleed marks on the top and sides of the
document added to aid the print shop in cutting correctly. This file is then
saved and often converted to a PDF document. If you are planning on going to
Kinkos or Staples among others, they like your business card to come in this
way, rather than just giving them a one up publisher business card document.

But I think I figured out a way to do this myself. I just used the old
standby of Copy and Paste. I just grouped all separate objects together on
my card, did a copy, swithched over to my 8-up template and did the paste. I
then positioned it correctly in it's slot and then proceeded to make copies
from within this document to fill up the rest of the slots. I saved it as a
pub file first and will then convert to PDF.

If there is a more official way of doing this, please let me know. But this
is the work around I came up with and it seems to work fine.

Thanks Don. This is exactly what I am refering to. I have both a 10 up and
an 8 up already setup on a standard 8.5 x 11 sheet. I have the 8 up to
account for cards with bleeds on them. And I know to save the blank
templates as a different name than when you fill them up with an actual
card/cards. That way you have it for future use.

But as far as getting my file that has the one card in it over to these 8 or
10 up slot templates, is copying and pasting the best way? Or is there a
better way?

Thanks

Don, real quick... In regards to lining all the cards up once you get them
copy and pasted in there, do you just do it manually? I have been dragging
them into their slots and then going to Format - Object, layout Tab and then
specifying the exact Horizontal/Vertical positions. Is there any way of
doing this at the same time that you do the copy and paste? Or do you
copy/paste first, then line them up?

Sorry, one last related question here.

Great! I was aware of snaping to a gridline, but I didn't know you could
also snap to the guides, rulers and/or objects. Wonderful information.

Thanks Don.
