Business Cards--Getting Started, Office 2003

How do I get started with business cards? I have a MS Press Office 97 book,
and see nothing about Publisher. Was it dropped from 2007?

I'd like to design my own. Roughly, it looks like:

Whether or not Publisher is in Office depends on which version you get.
I think that's been true since before 2007 version. I know it came with
whatever version I got in Office 2003.

Dunno about your book -- maybe they decided not enough people wanted it (in
the book) to bother including it. I have an Office 2007 for Dummies book
that includes Publisher, but it doesn't include more than a few pages on
OneNote -- which was in my Office 2007 (home & student? I forget) -- I had
to buy Publisher separately.

I selected the tiny link, and settled in on Create a Business Card. 2007 vs
2003 wording must be a little different. In fact, the explanation doesn't
make sense. I just noticed to the left a 2003 Help and How-to link. I see
Browse Publsiher 2003 Help and How-to, and under it is listed, 1. automating
taska nd programmability, 2. Colums, demos, and quizzes. ...

That's not going anywhere. Off to Google.
<http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/publisher/HA010563141033.aspx>

1. Start Publisher
2. In the New Publication task pane, click ...

What New Publication task pane.

I think I need to go to the public library and see what they have in the way
of books.

Ah, I see what they seem to be driving at. I got a 'pane' on the left, and
there's an almost hidden pull-down menu at the top. I now see business
cards. I guess I have to pick once. Nothing for do-it-yourself, I guess. Off
to puzzle this out. I plan to use Avery 8876 sheets.

Page setup, Business Cards, click Change copies per sheet. Type .75 side, .5
top, zero gaps.
You will be presented with one card on your screen. This setup will print 10
identical cards per sheet.

When I picked which version of Office 2007 to get, I decided on home&student
(or whatever it's called) & bought Publisher separately. I could have gotten
small business instead, but decided to try out OneNote (which I haven't done
yet). I don't need the "pro" versions with Access & business management
stuff &all & didn't want to pay for them or clutter up my system with them,
but I do need Publisher.

Yes. I tried it, but it seemed 2007 oriented. Words and menus didn't seem to
quite match.

Thanks. That looks like a good start. I've got 10 cards per sheet. It looks
like use of Insert of text and pictures will pretty well do the rest. Very
good.
