business cards print misaligned

My business cards have my picture on the left (which has been centered to
have a bit of white space on the top and bottom) and text info on the right.
When I print the sheet with the 10 cards (5 left column--5 right column), the
cards, especially the picture, look slightly rotated counter-clockwise. This
makes the top 2 cards on the left column seem so-so with the white border I
wanted, but the right column all end up on the perforation of the card stock.
The rest of the cards all end up misaligned causing them to overlap beyond
the perforations. I tried moving the pic up and down in increments, but
nothing works. I tried adjusting in Copies per sheet, went to Labels Avery
8871, margins set to .75 and .5 on top and 0 gaps.

I'm using the following:
-Publisher 2003 SP2
-Epson Stylus Photo R200 printer
-Avery Matte White Business Cards for Ink Jet (#27881)

Sounds like your printer is not
advancing the paper properly.

I've checked and printed with other programs and the printer is advancing
properly in them, as well as printing as it should. For some reason, the
problem is only with Publisher.

Some inkjet printers have levers that adjust stock thickness. Check the rollers,
are they picking up correctly?

Yours is a printer issue. Go to the manufacturer's web site and look around for
support documents.

R

Roddy

Already exhausted that route. Nothing addresses the issue. The strange thing
is the printer works perfect in all other software graphic programs, such as
PhotoShop, FreeHand, and the such. That's why I mentioned that it seems to
just be an issue with Publisher. I'll try printing the same file using
another Printer. I'll let you know if it worked, or not.

If you have Photoshop or Freehand, draw a table with the business cards
dimensions and print it out. Does the document print correctly? Publisher is not
shifting your business cards, something else is going on.

I still need to try out your suggestion of printing it in Photoshop. Problem
I had a few years ago with business cards in Photoshop, is that the Picture
comes out great, and the text comes out pretty inferior.
I did print out the Publisher business cards on another printer and had the
same problem with the cards being printed all off. Again, some printed too
close to top border, others to the bottom bordser. No consistency at all.

I didn't mean for you to actually build business cards in Photoshop, just draw
the outline and see if you are getting the shift.
Publisher is not misaligning your cards, it is the way you are feeding the stock
or your rollers are not picking up the stock correctly.

Roddy

Mary,
There is only one way to feed stock into this printer, and I am only feeding
one sheet at a time. The rollers are picking up just fine and are not pulling
or feeding more on one side than another, I've already checked for that.
Besides, as I stated before, if the issue was a problem with the printer’s
rollers it would give me similar problems when printing in other programs.
This has not been the case. I have printed with Photoshop, and everything
prints fine. No shifts, no misalignments.

Roddy, Can you email me your card and I will see what happens on my printers?

Sorry I took so long in responding. I took your example that you sent, copied
one of them, opened a new document, pasted the original higher rez picture,
then selected copies per page to do the business card set-up. I printed it on
2 business card stocks, and they came out much better this time. There are
still some slight angle issues, but are not that noticeable. Thanks for all
your help.

That is good news, Roddy. I never had your problem when I re-created your
business card, I am glad you worked it out. Thanks for the update, it is
appreciated.
