Business mileage

I have created a spreadsheet for business mileage
expenses.

an employee gets 40p per mile up to 833 miles per month
and 28p per mile beyond that figure.

The result cell is calculating accumulated miles but i
need to produce a result from that taking into account
the above in pounds?? therefore a calculation for up to
833 at 40p and another at 28p beyond that and these two
figures added together.

How can I achieve this please

Use an If function:

=IF(C5>833, (833*0.4)+((C5-833)*0.28), (C5*0.4))

=MIN(A1,833)*40+MAX(0,A1-833)*28

and format as currency
