Button alt images not displayed

R

Roger

When I publish a site that I am developing to my earthlink webspace I find
that some of the alt images of buttons don't display even though they work
properly in my filebased site and when I publish to my fp extensions enabled
personal web server.

I deleted all files on the remote site and published everything and still
have problems. The wierd thing is that some buttons work properly and some
show no image at all onmouseover or onclick.

The earthlink site has no fp extensions but why would some buttons work and
others not??

Using Insert.Interactive Button. The buttons are in a dwt which is the
basis of most pages.

The button images are in images/buttons and the image files are present in
the website.

Make sure up select all 3 options in the IB dialog Image tab, and save all images 3 w/ unique names

Your server may be running on Unix which is caSe sensitive. Check the
button links and button names are all the same case (lowercase for
preference, though not essential). If this is correct, give a URL to a
faulty page.

This may be the problem. After a lot of button editing the names are all a
jumble, as is the swap image code. It seems very slow, especially on a slow
connection. Frankly I am thinking of droping the interactive buttons and
going with regular buttons to give a better experience to users with slow
computers and connections.
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't know how to give the button images
names. The Interactive Buttons dialog gives no provisions for that and
wants to generate button images automatically and give them usless names
like button1.jpg.

Is there a way to give the Interactive Button images names like
option_1_normal.jpg, option_1_over.jpg, and option_1_click.jpg?

Ron,

Again THANKS. My earthlink site is not fp extensions so I use the ftp
publishing option. Here is what the problem turned out to be... in
publishing Front Page changed the case of file names from the original. For
example, if the button image was buttonA.jpg the published file might come
out ButtonA.jpg or buttona.jpg. By renaming the files on the server I have
it working now, after wasting a lot of time.

I have NO IDEA why it would do this but it certainly was frustrating. I
think I will try using WS_FTP to publish. To me this is a bug in FP.

In the save embedded file dialog select the file (when you save the page) and you can name it and select a folder to save it in
