button that runs a macro that runs rules

I am hitting the exchange 2003 rules limit and cannot add anything else to my
approx 20 rules which sort email into my approx 20 folders as they arrive. I
regularly get email from new senders and so need to continue to add to the
search terms in my rules.

The only solution I can think of is to turn off some rules and run them
manually (until our firm moves to exchange 2007 but that is out of my
control).

So the question is: how can I create a button on the toolbar or somewhere up
top of outlook that runs a macro which in turn runs the deactivated rules?

I have never seen a macro in outlook so if you response can be as detailed
as possible that would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Rock,

You might be able to get away with using an add-in to effectively
"hard-code" the rules. For instance Sent Items Organizer (send side) and
Incoming Mail Organizer (incoming side) will both replace rules allowing you
to free up space. See the URL in my signature for more info on these, and
http://www.slipstick.com/rules/index.htm for more general information about
the problem.

Also, see Automatic Messaging Processing Tools
(http://www.slipstick.com/addins/auto.asp) -- "Alternatives to Rules Wizard
and Inbox Assistant; tools for managing out-of-office settings" on SlipStick
for more tools to help overcome the limitations.

HTH!
