Buy new programs for office 2003

P

Paul

I have a full retail version of Publisher and a retail upgrade (from 97 SBE)
on my computer. In the future I might like to add additional Office programs
(possibly Access and Visio, maybe others).

The price of individual retail versions of Office programs comparatively
high, is there an upgrade/reduced price path whereby I can add new programs
to an Office installation?

Alternatively, my Office 97 SBE has been used to provide an upgrade path to
2003 Standard. I understand that therefore 97 can no longer be used, however
could it legitimately be used to install upgrade versions of addtional Office
2003 programs (after all, had I bought Office 2003 Professional it would have
upgrade more programs than it currently has) or does the fact that it has
been used to upgrade to 2003 standard mean that it can't be used for further
upgrade, even other 2003 programs?

Are full retail versions the only option to expanding Office 2003 Standard?

Maybe I'm just tired but I'm not real sure what you're asking. You have a
version of Publisher and some upgrade to Office 97. Not 100% sure which
version of either.

Are you asking if you can do a cross-grade to Office 2003? If so, no, you
cannot. Office 2007 allows that but not 2003.

Sorry, when I re-read my post it doesn't read that great.

I have a full retail version of Publisher 2003 and a retail version of
Office 2003 Standard (via an upgrade from Office 97 SBE) installed on my
system - 5 Office 2003 programs.

My main question is, is there a way to buy and add new Office 2003 programs
to my Office 2003 installation that doesn't involve having to buy individual
full retail products, in other words does Microsoft offer any reduced cost
options to licensed users of Office 2003 products who want to add addition
Office 2003 components to their installations?

If this is not the case can I use my version of Office 97 SBE to install
further upgrade versions of Office 97 programs? Having been used onced to
provide upgrade eligibility to Office 2003 Standard my guess is that it can't
be used to provide a second upgrade path. However this may not be the case as
as the intended upgrades still form part of the overall Office 2003 suite
(had I bought an Office Professional upgrade originally the Office 97 suite
would have been used to upgrade more programs than it currently has).

Sorry, it's slightly confusing, perhaps a better question would have been,
what's the cheapest option to add additonal components to an Office 2003
installation.

Sorry, the second post should read "If this is not the case can I use my

I wish there was an edit option on these forums :)

There are no cross-grades for Office 2003. Since you have already done an
upgrade to Office 2003, you can't use 97 (read the EULA). I don't think your
computer would allow you to purchase yet another upgrade to 97. And if it
would your computer wouldn't know which product key was applicable. It would
be hairy at best. Which programs do you want that you don't have?

Thanks,

I thought that that was probably the case. I might look at getting Access
2003 and possibly Visio or Onenote at some point and was wondering whether
there was a cheaper option than having to buy individual retail packages.
