Buying new Computer with XP Pro - software compatibility question

S

sds0901

I am about to purchase a new laptop. In order to avoid Vista and hopefully
use my existing programs like Office 2003. How do I know if I can use my
programs with this new XP Pro.

I slightly understand the 32-bit to 64-bit upgrade (to meet Vista OS) but do
not want to replace the expensive programs that I have currently working on
my laptop (that needs to be desparately updated).

Please advise

The new XP Pro is the same as the old XP Pro except it may have SP 3
installed. If the programs you have ran under XP on another machine they
should also run on the new machine. Office 2003 is fully compatible with XP
operating system.

OOPS, forgot to say that if the old programs were OEM copies then they can
not "legally" be transferred to another machine. It is up to you to
determine the "legality" of transfer of programs to another computer.
