cable and proxy servers

Please advise -- I've gotten high speed cable internet
access and want to access a site that requires a proxy
server. I know the proxy server address etc, and have a
valid password for the server but don't know where to put
the address. I used to use the dial-in proxy settings
but now this won't work - I tried using the LAN settings
but no luck.
What do I do?
