Cache Exchange mode in outlook 2007

Hello
I have one doubt. If I put cached mode in the configuration, I know I'm able
to consult GAL and my mailbox if I'm online, but the question is: when I make
a consult to the address list, where does it made this consult, in the local
copy or in the server?
If I look at my configuration, the cons. is being made to a local OAB but
then, if I make any change in the GAL, what happens with actualizations? I
have to wait until GAL regenerates OAB and then clients download changes in
the OAB?

I find it's not very useful if this is the right way...

I'll be very glad if anyone explains me the way it works...

Thanks
