Calculate difference between two days and times.

I'm working on a spreadsheet that will provide the hours worked on a project. But, it needs to compare a beginning date and time with an ending date and time. I can do days and hours individually, but not together. Is there such a thing in Excel, or do I need to look into doing this on a database
