calculate each record

Hi, I am very new at this, please bear with me....
I need to create a field that calculates all the data in a form. I want to
calculate each record independently. I tried to sum all the fields in a
record and it seemed to work, until i get to the next record. the total was
already there even though there was no data entered in the next record. can
someone please tell me what to do??

Assign the control source property of the control to

= Nz(field1, 0) + Nz(field2, 0) + Nz(field3, 0) + ... ad nauseam



Could be quite slow, on the other hand.
