Calculating Actual Work completion for a time duration

Hi All
What do Work and Actual Work values (that we select from available fields box from Format>Detail Styles) show in the right pane of Resource Usage View? Is this for Planned work and Actual Work completed? How is it calculated

Actual work is the work which is reported as being completed. This can come
through direct entry of the work, updates from project server or project
central or by setting the task percent complete.
Work is the amount of work for the entire task. You could call it planned
work, but many people use a baseline for the original plan and work is just
the current best estimate of the total work.
