Calculating Summary fields

I created a numeric custom field and specified that the rollup should be
average and it gave me the maximum. So, I asked it to provide average first
level and then sum and (in both cases) it gave me the save maximum number.
What am I doing wrong?

Do you have calculation set to Automatic in Microsoft Project Professional?
Click Tools - Options - Calculation and make sure you have the Automatic
option selected for Calculation Mode. I have tried your scenario on my
computer, and it works just fine using the Maximum, Average First Level, and
Sum options for calculating a formula on summary tasks. Let us know.
