Calculating using Excel XP

Is there a way to calculate faster while using Excel. I
was using Excel 2000 and when I chose to calculate, it was
instantaneous. No, however, it takes about 10sec per
calculation. I know that sounds, minute but, I calculate
quite a bit in this particular worksheet. For example, If
I calculate 10 times that is a 1min 40 sec. before I'm
able to do anything. If anyone has any suggestions,
please let me know.
