Calculation based on users inputting amounts

What is the best way to achieve the following where:
A + B = E
C + D = F
Total = E + F

User inputs amounts A, B, C and D

The document to be printed then shows
Item 1 cost: $E
Item 2 cost: $F
Total: $E+F

in other words the user inputs the amounts, Word automatically add together
the amounts and displays only the totals of each?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi mgirving,

You could use text formfields for A, B, C & D and formula fields referring to these for the calculations. No vba required - all you
need to do is to have the formfeilds' properties set to 'calculate on exit'.
