There is a problem with summation of formulaic columns in Excel 2004.
Scenario: In my spreadsheet, I have two manually entered columns, one
a NUMBER - 4 decimal places, the second a NUMBER - 2 decimal places.
The third column is a computation result of the corresponding cells in
columns 1 & 2 (i.e. =D2*C2). Column 3 3 is formatted as CURRENCY - 2
decimal places. The results in the individual cells in column 3 are
correct.
However, when Column 3 is summed, the result is incorrect by 0.01 on
the low side (i.e. should be 172.91, but =sum produces 172.90)
Cells in column 3 are then multiplied by corresponding cells in column
4 (manually entered, CURRENCY - 2 decimal places) to produce column 5.
Again, the individual cells in column 5 are correct, but summing then
produces an incorrect result by 0.01, but this time on the low side
(i.e. =sum should be $9.97, but shows up as $9.98)
Anybody have any ideas?
