I'm trying to understand Excel's methods and rules for recalculation. My
workbook (very large about 9 MBytes) takes about 7 seconds to recalculate.
If I change 1 cell which has 5 other cells which are dependencies Excel still
takes 7 seconds. None of those other 5 cells have any other dependent cells.
So what is taking 7 seconds? These 5 calculations are very simple and I
would think that Excel smart recalculation would be able to do these 5
calculations in a flash. So clearly there is something else going on.
Either smart recalculation isn't so smart or I don't understand the
underlying recalculation method. Any help on this is appreciated.
