Calendar Appointments in Different Time Zones

B

Bill Steiner

Help Please, I travel between California and Brasil and when I do, I make a
copy of my Outlook.pst file and transfer it between PC's in each area. I
also use a PDA that synchronizes with Outlook. The PC in California is set
to local time and the PC in Brasil is set to its local time and the PDA's
time is set to local time wherever it is at.

Now, having laid the ground work, here is the dilemma. When I enter
information in the calendar in California then open the calendar in Brasil
the appointments are sometimes overlapping in days or duplicated. This also
seems to happen when I sync my PDA, appointments are duplicated or
overlapping. Can someone tell me if I setup an appointment in one time zone
and move to another, how can I keep the time and date fixed to the original
time and date not adjusted for the local time.

Hope that is clear and someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

When making the appointment, are you using the Time Zone option to show a
second time zone?

Bill, use the TimeZone button on the ribbon. Example - Let's say you have a
meeting that starts at 0800 in NY. When you enter the meeting in your
calendar, before saving the meeting, click on the TimeZone button (this will
now show a timezone to the right of the time (if your meeting is a
reoccuring meeting you have to click on the timezone button and then click
on the reocurring button). Now enter 0800 for the start time and in the
dropdown for the timezone select "Eastern Time" and then save and close the
appointment. The time reflected on your calendar is the timezone of your PC.
I assume you have it set for PST if you live in CA. Now as you travel you
can change the timezone of your PC and automatically (like magic) the time
in your calendar will reflect the timezone of your PC.
