Calendar appointments

Some of the appointments I enter in the calendar do not show up. WHen I go back in to reenter it, a message says that it is a conflicting appointment but there is no information there. i tried to change the view options but none of them display what I have entered previously. I am using Outlook 98. Any suggestions?
