Calendar control conflict with search

Hi, I have a continuous form with two unbound textboxes which are formatted
as Short date to pick a range between two dates for assessments. This was
provided by Allen Browne Search2000.mdb and addapted. The search works fine.

I now want to add Steven Lebans Calendar to the Unbound textbox to allow the
user to pick the date from the calendar.

When the form loads I get the error message "The command or action
acCmdRecordsGoToNew isn't available now" .

Can this calendar be attached to Unbound textboxes. I am aware the Allen
Browne code converts a string to a date format and the Lebans calendar is
date format. Could the date be converted to string format in the AfterUpdate
Event.
Alternatively can someone recommend a calendar to use with this search?

Going round the houses I know but any help appreciated.
