How is it possible to create a schedule using calendar days instead of work
days?

Here are three possible choices.

1) Set the working calendar in project to one which has everyday as a
working day. This makes it easy, but some work will end up being scheduled
on the weekend.

2) Set tasks to be scheduled in edays. (simply type in the duration as
something like "5 edays") and they will be scheduled on an elapsed basis.

3) Use weeks for scheduling.

I find that it is best to schedule using work days because after all, you
are scheduling work.
