Calendar event date automatically jumps to Dec 31, 1969

When entering an event into my calendar under the correct date (i.e. 09/30/2009), once i try to "save" the event i receive the following message "you have entered a date for this event that is in the past. Are you sure you want to save this change?". If i click don't save i do see that the date on this event has reverted back to Dec 31, 1969. If i save it, the event is saved in Dec 31, 1969.

The date on my Mac is correct. I need to resolve asap as i am unable to add any new events to my calendar !!! Thank you.

I believe this is what worked for someone else with a similar issue:

First, quit Entourage. Then go to Apple menu --> System Preferences...
--> International (or Language & Text in 10.6) --> Formats. If the
Region drop down menu says "Custom" then change it to your current
region and allow the date and time formats to reset.

Test your problem again in Entourage.

Hope this helps!

William Smith,
Thank you for the post as it did help resolve the calendar issue.
That being said, it doesn't look like i can change "customize" the date format while not having this calendar issue. What i would like to have at the end of the day is the date formatted as 20090929 which would help my organizational attempts. It appears that when i customize the date in this format it reverts back to the original calendar issue.
Any further thoughts or suggestions or is this simply an issue that you can not change the date format without having this issue ???

thank you.

Glad this worked for you, but you're probably stuck with one or the other.

I doubt Microsoft tested many date formats outside of the "normal"
formats when developing Entourage. Please be sure to let Microsoft know
you'd like to see this feature changed in future versions by using the
Help --> Send Feedback mechanism in any Office application.

Hope this helps!
