Calendar has (1) next to it like an email folder?

I do not know why my calendar has a (1) next to it. It looks just like an
email folder where there is 1 unread email message - except it is my
calendar. Anyone know what this could be and how to get rid of it?
Thank you, Sally

Right-click the folder and choose "Mark All as Read"?

Brian, Your response was helpful and much simpler than how I actually managed
to get rid of it. It was an unread appointment from back in March - The only
advantage to how I got rid of it, was in knowing exactly what appointment was
the problem. I changed the display of all my appointments and easily found
the one that was 'unread'. What I still do not know is what makes an
appointment 'read' or not 'read'. Do you know the answer to that?
Thank you for responding to my problem!

Unread appointments are usually added from a third party application like a
web browser or other such means. If accepted directly, it is marked read.
If added to the calendar automatically by the web app, for instance, it is
never read and stays in its unread state.
