calendar in outlook 2003 do not display new appointments

hello all,
i have this problem where the calendar in outlook 2003 do not save new
appointmnats. every time i create a new appointment it appears for about 30
seconds and then disappears completely. Even after a system restart the
appointments dont apear in the calendar, cant seem to find any answer for
this. I have tried looking into the calender options but nothing, anyhelp
will be much appreaciated. Operating system is Windows XP
