Calendar Reminder Window does not open

Using Outlook 2003 - my Calendar reminders do not open when they are due.
It highlights the icon on my taskbar, but doesn't open the task I have to
click the taskbar icon to open the reminder. I've gone to Advanced Options
and Reminder Options to be sure the check os there to Display the Reminder.
It just doesn't do it.
