Hi All,
I've read a huge number of posts regarding this and I'm not sure if it was
ever answered fully. This is a long post because I'm not sure where the
problem is!
Recently my work place moved from Lotus Notes to Outlook 2003 (good move!)
All went well apart from the usual problems of a new environment. Originally
everyone was using the program through a server, so the program was called
from the server, rather than sitting on your C drive. This is OK for some,
but I do some travel with my computer, so they put 2003 on my laptop. All
good.
Then, I got a new laptop. Yippee! I'm now on XP and Outlook 2003. When I
got it all finally done and IT had worked on it, I noticed that the times on
my inbox were 3 hours out. very strange, so I checked my regional settings
and saw that although the time had been adjusted for my time zone, the time
zone had not. it was now working in a totally different time zone, three
hours away. So I adjusted it to reflect the correct time zone, checked the
DST box and everything worked well, apart of course, from having the wrong
time on the clock. SO I changed that and now all my appointments are out by
3 hours. Really, really annoying.
I was wondering, as I know a lot of people have had this problem, 1) Was
there a fix that did not involve exporting things and then re-importing them
after fixing them up? 2) Could it be that OUtlook 2003 was loaded onto my
system with all the wrong dates and time zones, so now it is wrong for ever?
So it's own internal reference is wrong? (Does that even make sense?)
Luckily, as all our email is kept on a server, rather than the laptop, if
this is possibly the cause, re-loading outlook will not mean having to
re-enter everything. I'm not really brave enough to try this though
.
I checked all the settings on my regional settings of the laptop and also of
OUtlook itself. Before I changed anything, they all matched perfectly and
also when I did change everything, they matched up again. Very bizarre!
I've never had the same problem with other versions of OUtlook I've used.
Thanks.
Fiona
