Calendar Sync between Entourage and Exchange

J

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

I currently utilize Entourage in my work network with Exchange. In the past it has always synchorized perfectly. Now for some reason my calendar items are not transfering to the exchange. They show up in Entourage but not in Exchange and I verify this using the Windows Outlook Web Access and by viewing my calendar through other computers Outlook and Entourage.

I am on Version 12.1.5 and we are running Microsoft Exchange on SBS 2003. Any help would be appreciated.

Well it could be that one of the entries are corrupted, or that the
identity has issues.

One way to try and fix this is to copy the events that refuse to make it
to the calendar On my Computer (or you will lose them), right-click
(Ctrl-click) the root Exchange folder to select "Folder Properties" and
reset the Exchange cache from there.
In essence, the local store will be purged, and everthing will be
redownloaded from the server.

Once you have it all (again) you can try re-adding the events from the
local calendar.

I suspect that the process will lose categories (not 100% sure though
since Office 2008 seems better than 2004 in this respect).

To make things easier for the events, you could create a custom view for
the Excahnge events, and another one for the local ones. That allows you
to have them all in list view, and select as many as you want to move
them from one calendar to the other.

I have a similar problem that just surfaced. Until recently entourage was synching well with exchange but recently calendar entries made on outlook or my iphone are received by exchange but not by entourage. However, calendar entries made on entourage are received by exchange and picked up by outlook and iphone. The odd thing is that email and contacts are synching perfectly. Any ideas?

Well it looks like it's essentially the same thing,

I found similar Sync problem with more detail.

I have periodic tasks each week, so I COPY them in Outlook Calendar, all these copied tasks did sync with Exchange Server, but Entourage cannot pull them from server.

The funny thing is: all the other tasks that I COPIED in Outlook before I use Entourage can be pulled down in Entourage, but the new COPIED items in Outlook after I started using Entourage cannot be pulled down in Entourage. Outlook webmail has no problem.

If I COPY items in Entourage, Outlook hasn't any problem with them.

Tested that creating new items in both of Entourage and Outlook could be synced each other without problem.

Empty caches and re-sync won't fix this problem. Create a new account won't help too.

So I guess this must be a Entourage Calendar sync problem.

Be sure to sign up for the first public beta test that's coming out later
this month.

The Macintosh Business Unit (MacBU) at Microsoft announced Entourage for
Exchange Web Services (EWS). MacBU expects to release a "public beta" for
this new version of Entourage later this month. This version of Entourage
will finally deliver some of the most highly requested features for Exchange
users--specifically synchronization of tasks, notes and categories.

The final release will be available later this year as a free update to
Office 2008 users, distributed via Mactopia.

I seem to have a problem in the opposite direction. If I create an event or accept an invitation using Entourage is is properly processed by Exchange (I can tell since that event will appear on my iPhone and on my web-based Outlook calendar using OWA). However, if I create a Calendar event using my iPhone or using OWA it will not appear in Entourage.

Help?

TIA,
Danny

Entourage 08, Hosted Exchange 2007
I assume this is related to incorrect access rights. Here's my problem.

Calendar events will NOT sync from Entourage to Exchange. They are synced from Exchange to Entourage though.
When I create a calendar entry on Entourage it will stay in the Entourage calendar but not sync to Exchange.

When I create a meeting in Entourage and put another attendee on the meeting invite he will get the invite on Outlook 2007 and the meeting will show up correctly on this users Exchange calendar.
I only will NOT show up on my Exchange calendar. I have full access rights (Level8) to my Exchange calendar when I check from Entourage or Outlook.

The Entourge error log says sync failed with error "-18500". But that error is reported for most items, almost regardless if the the sync was successfull or not ;-)

Any help on this one before the public beta?

If you see this in just one or a handful of folders then right-click or
Control-click that folder or calendar, select Folder Properties and
click the Empty button to empty the cache. You can also select the
account itself and empty the cache for all of your folders.

Hope this helps!

I did empty the calendar cache without success.
Havn't tried deleting the entire Account cache.
Error "-18500" happens on many items from different folders. As I can see everything except my calendar items get synced despite error "-18500".

What I find very strange is, that the issue is *ONLY* affecting my own calendar. If I send a meeting invite from Entourage to other people on the same hosted Exchange Server they recieve everything ok without error.
I also tried putting myself on the meeting invite without success though.
The meeting invite to myself for my own meeting is sent correctly. I do recieve it in Entourage and Outlook (pointing to the same Exchange account).
When I click on the invite from Outlook and select "view in calendar" the correct time&date will be marked in the calendar, but no meeting information is shown.

I just don't know where to luck further in order to find the cause of the problem:
- might be the hosted Exchange setup (they only support Microsoft Outlook and don't think Entourage is a Microsoft product)
- might be "malformed" meeting invites sent from Entourage to Exchange
- might an access control issue
- might be a patch level issue on the Exchange server
- ...

I thought this number looked familiar. Are you by any chance using a
hosted Exchange service? Ah, yes, I see you mention it is.

By any chance is your service provider mentioned in this thread?

Exactly. Hosted Exchange provider is www.mobile-exchange.de by Arvato Systems

If you have any contact information for this service provider then you
might want to forward them a link to that thread and include yourself as
another customer having problems.

Maybe if they see the number of customers with this need they'll do
something about the problem.

Good luck!

I have had similar difficulties....as a means of a "test", I entered a calendar event with a repeat (weekly, for example) and then one event with no repeat. The events with no repeats had no difficulty in populating among the three computers I frequent....the event with the repeat did not go beyond the local computer. Is there a workaround?
Thanks!
