Calendar task pad dates not bold

Hi guys,

I am trying to fix a problem for a customer.

They have appointments booked on certain dates, which are set to either
'busy' or 'out of office', yet they don't show up as bold in the task pad
calendar which they should do.

Not all dates are affected, it seems a bit random.

It happens with re-occuring meetings and normal appointments.

These have been accepted and are set to either busy or out of office. They
are NOT showing as free... which I'm aware would cause this same effect.

Also, this may be related: if I try to book an appointment with him, I
cannot always see currently booked appointments. These are also set as busy
and have been accepted.

If I create a new appointment in his calendar whilst shadowing him, save and
close, the date in the task pad then turns bold. Almost like its jolting the
calendar back to reality.

I have tried changing his views to various others incase there was something
setup strangely, but nothing works.

I have run the /cleanfreebusy switch to no affect, and tried a new mail
profile which no luck. I'm sure th

Any suggestions?? I may have missed some bits out here so feel free to ask
away... I would be greatful for any input.

I have also tried altering the taskpad view settings via View > Taskpad View,
but none of this has helped.

You are actually having a problem with what's called the Date Navigator
(that's the Calendar thingo above the TaskPad.) Try using the Commandline
switch to reset the date navigator.

Thanks for the tip Judy,

I am back in work on Monday, so will see if I can try it then, otherwise it
will be Wednesday. I really appreciate your reply. Sorry for my late reply...
been away from home over xmas and also PC.

Hi Judy,

I ran the /resetnavpane switch, unfortunately this did not fix the problem.
:-(

I am going to ask him to try this in OWA and see if he gets the same issue,
hadn't thought about that previously. I can view his calendar fine via OWA.
No issues there. I'll also ask him to test another machine.

After re-reading my initial post, I had neglected to state that if I open
his calendar from my session I can see everything fine, all days with
meetings and reminders etc show up in bold. Didn't know if that makes any
difference? I guess if anything it shows that they 'do' work, just not for
him... could it be worth running another switch??

An update again.

Customer CAN see these dates highlighted in bold if viewing over OWA.

He has tried another machine, and the problem persists.

Very strange...

did you try cleanviews switch?

when you open his calendar, is it using his mailbox logon or as a shared
calendar from your mailbox?

I have tried the cleanviews switch, apologies that I forgot to mention that.

I have so far run cleanviews, cleanfreebusy (due to the random missing busy
info when you try to book a new meeting) and the resetnavpane switches.

I am accessing his calendar directly from my account, using File > Open >
Other users folder. I should have stated that before, apologies again.

Finally fixed this!

After lots of trouble shooting, and seeing that opening the mailbox through
a 2007 client worked fine, we migrated the mailbox to another mail store, and
it this fixed it.

This seems to have been related to a corruption in the mailbox structure
itself.


The bug only seems to happen in Outlook 2003, as we tested the mailbox
attached to an older 2000 client, and newer 2007 client, and the problem was
not evident in either... only affected the Outlook 2003 client.

Please note, we tried many different switches, and even tried them whilst
having the mailbox attached to the working 2007 and 2000 clients, but this
didn't help.

Mailbox migration fixed the problem.


I hadn't seen any fixes to this issue posted anywhere on the net, so
hopefully someone else will find this useful.
