Calendar- too large

My calendar is showing almost 8,000 items. I looked at it in the "arrange by
events" so I could see it as a list.

It does not seem to have 8,000 items on the list (there are maybe 400)

Any thoughts?

What makes you think it doesn't have 8000 items in it?

Was the view you used Grouped? Did you have all groups expanded?

Try ungrouping (advanced toolbar - use the group by box).
