Hi everyone,
We've recently migrated about 300 users to exchange 2007 in our company and approx 1/2 of the company is on Entourage 2004 / 2008 and another half in on Outlook.
We do have some very heavy Entourage users, especially all the PAs and execs, they rely on the calendaring function _very heavily_ and they all have a _lot_ of emails (1GB+) in their mailboxes. What we're seeings with these users is that if let's say a delegate of an exec updates something in his calendar, the exec does not see it immediately. Or, for instance, if someone creates a meeting, invites 10 people, and then changes the time of the meeting (or does any change to it for that matter), it sometimes takes up to 20 minutes for this change to be reflected in the calendars of the invitees.
This affects both Entourage 2004 and Entourage 2008 users.
I tested this delay issue myself by doing the following:
1) shared my calendar with a test users
2) On the test users computer, i opened my own calendar
3) as the test user, i created a new event in my calendar (e.g. as if a PA was creating an event for an exec)
4) Observed how long till this event pops up on my calendar when accessed from my computer
The result was that it took approximately 2 minutes for it to pop up, which is quite significant amount of time by itself.
My question probably would be:
- Is this normal?
- Are there any server/client side settings that should be checked?
- Are the calendars synced using WebDAV like emails? If so, is there any way to force "immediate" sync or something like that?
thank you
