calendar view not retained

help, somebody, please!

outlook 97 - windows 98

the date navigator (small monthly calendars) is at first
hidden under the task list and can only be revealed by
dragging down the top of the task list

but after exiting outlook, next time I re-enter, the
date navigator has disappeared under the task list again

how can I get outlook to keep the date navigator in view?

You may try this:

Select the Calendar Folder
Select VIEW on the menu
Select CURRENT VIEW
Select DEFINE VIEWS...
Select the DAY/WEEK/MONTH view
(Or whatever view you are having trouble with)
Click the RESET button if it is available
Click the APPLY button
Close

Outlook uses a customized system folder for views
called Views.dat.

Close Outlook then try renaming this file to something like
Views.old
then reopen Outlook.

Note: This will reset ALL of your views to the default
install settings. You will lose any special views that you
have created.

Thanks Nikki, but unfortunately this doesn't work either.
I renamed views.dat to views.old and also tried your
earlier suggestion again - but no joy.
Interestingly, the system has not created a replacement
views.dat file - it is working now without one - could
that be a clue as to what is wrong?
Further ideas would be appreciated.
